Speaker
Rev.
Dr. Dale Woods
Rev. Dr. Dale Woods is the Director of Pastoral Studies at
Presbyterian College, Montreal. He began his ministry there in January
2008 after fourteen years as minister of First Presbyterian Church,
Brandon, Manitoba. He is married to Susan and they have two adult
children, David and Sarah.
The
Theme
The
Coming Of The Kingdom And The Future Of The Church
Dr. Woods will share with us a critical look at what futurists are
saying the church will look like in the next couple of decades and
suggest how we can get ready for the changes. His talk will address the
future of the church, seeing the bigger picture, and thinking globally
about the church. He will look as well at the challenges of the church,
especially within the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and suggest
possible ways forward.
The
Panel Focus
The panel will deal with thoughts on the future of the church. "Where
will The Presbyterian Church be in 30 years?"
Q. What do you see in the future of the Presbyterian Church in
Canada?
Q. What can we do to encourage a promising future?
The
Panel Members
Panel members will each share in an introductory way one aspect of
dealing with the topic. The panel members are:
Rick Fee, General Secretary of the Life and Mission Agency, who
led Presbyterian World Service and Development for a number of years and
served as a missionary in Nigeria and other parts of Africa;
Jeremy Bellsmith, Minister at Burn's Presbyterian Church, Ashburn
ON, a young enthusiastic churchman who deeply cares about the future of
the church, and who has served for a term in the Vine Resource ministry
at Church Offices;
Charles Fensham, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Knox
College, Toronto ON, who joined the Knox faculty in 2002. He is
interested in the study of the church (ecclesiology) and its
intersection with mission studies. He works with advanced degree
students on projects focused on ecclesiology, missiology, the theologies
of David Bosch and Jürgen Moltmann, the theology of Protestant
spirituality and the intersection of these themes with contemporary
culture. Charles is a member of the Presbytery of Hamilton and an active
member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Ancaster. His areas of
teaching are Systemic Theology and Missiology.
Calvin Brown, Executive Director of the Renewal Fellowship within
